A Natural Life: Minty Bathroom Scrub

Happy weekend friends! Hope you are doing well. I woke up early this morning (ok, well early for a Saturday) and thought I would share this super easy and fantastic recipe for bathroom scrub. Yes, I know that there are more exciting things to concoct in the kitchen but keeping your bathroom clean is important! I have a working bathtub for the first time is years and by golly, I am committed to keeping the thing pristine. I lit some candles and incense, rested by head on a bath pillow and read the latest issue of Whole Living. It didn’t quite look like the photo above but it was FANTASTIC.

On to the recipe! Who needs those toxic bathroom cleaners that make you cough and open up a window? I came up with this simple scrub years ago and have been using it ever since. It has a great consistency and can tackle most anything. The tea tree essential oil is optional but with its powerful anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial benefits, it is a star. The peppermint oil is antiseptic but most importantly, it just smells amazing. You can substitute these with whatever oils you have/want but this is the bomb right here (yep, I just said bomb).

MINTY BATHROOM SCRUB:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 cup castile soap (Dr. Bronners is amazing, fair-trade and has some great scents to choose from, including peppermint)
  • 20 drops tea tree essential oil
  • 20 drops peppermint essential oil

Mix together with a spoon or whisk really well until combined. Keep in an airtight container and use within 3 months. It looks really pretty, like whipped topping! You can also use it on counter tops and tile floors.
