Winter Feast for the Soul 2012!

Happy weekend!

I just wanted to let y’all know about an amazing challenge that starts today. It is called “Winter Feast for the Soul” and it is an annual commitment to spiritual practice for 40 minutes each day for 40 days. The number 40 is important in many traditions and the direct inspiration for this project comes from this quote from Rumi:

Why nine months does for the embryo,

Forty early mornings

Will do for your awareness.

Now, it doesn’t have to be early mornings and it doesn’t even have to be a certain kind of spiritual practice. The project centers around meditation (because meditation is so rad and can help with all sorts of physical/emotional/mental issues), but journaling, expressive arts, yoga, prayer, etc. are all ideas for starting your journey!

Personally, the holiday time is so stressful that once the new year comes rolling around, I am in need of some serious detoxing. And what better way to supplement your cleanse/fasting/detoxing ritual than a spiritual practice to help center yourself, make intentions for the upcoming year and just feel more awesome in general?

If you want to know more about the project, please visit Winter Feast for the Soul and check out their free e-book. It explains the benefits of meditation, how to meditate and some other ideas for your forty days of practice.

I am really excited about this time of transformation and will definitely post some updates on the journey. Hope you join me!
