Motivational Monday!

Hello and happy Monday! It stopped raining around these part long enough to see some sun and study outside today so I am happy…

Here are some goodies from the virtual world:

The Spring issue of Chickpea magazine is available! Check it out here and enjoy all the amazing recipes and beautiful layouts.

These samoa-inspired cupcakes from Fork and Beans are vegan, gluten-free and look absolutely delicious!

Kathy from Healthy Happy Life wrote about how to stay healthy while working/eating at home. Since I have been working and studying a lot at home lately, I found this super helpful.

Hipster Food posted this simple Springtime bow-tie pesto pasta dish. It would be perfect for a lunch by the bay.

This article by Organic Gardening is about simple herbal cures you can grow and use at home. Check out what you can use basil for…

And that’s it folks!

Motivational Mondays!

Hi there friends,

Hope your weekend was fantastic! We spent the last three days looking at apartments, which was depressing and frustrating but we found one we really loved and so hopefully we hear some good news in the next day or two and can start planning our move!

Here’s what is going around the web:

These vegan nutballs (hehe) from Vegansaurus look like a yummy treat!

The lovely Dominee from Blessing Manifesting wrote a wonderful list of 39 things you need to know in 2012.

PPK brings us a Southern-style meal of black eyed peas and sweet potatoes…YUM.

The new Chickpea magazine has arrived!!! You can buy it on Etsy or view it online here.

And I will leave you with a recent guilty pleasure of mine:

Motivational Monday!

[Beautiful photo from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation by Aaron Huey. In recognition of Indigenous People's Day (which was last Saturday). As an indigenous woman, I want to take this moment to recognize my gratitude for where I come from, my anger for what capitalism, colonialism + racism has done to us, and my hope for a better world in our (hopefully post-revolutionary) future.]

Hey friends!

So the weekend is behind me and you know what? Things already seem to be looking up. I am out of school for the day, a pot of ginger syrup is simmering beside me (filling the kitchen with the most amazing smell), and I am enjoying an afternoon tea break. These past few days have really tested my patience and I would like to think that I have emerged from this ordeal with more calmness + understanding than before.

Here are some things that have inspired me lately:

These super easy lentil burgers are perfect for weekday lunches! Since we are broke, I am always trying to think of tasty + simple ways to bring my lunch to work/school. Make a giant batch of these Sunday night, pop them in the fridge and you are set! This recipe is from Hipster Food, one of my new favorite blogs. The name always turned me off from reading but oh boy, am I happy I got over it! The blog (well, the tumblr…it is a hipster blog after all) is filled with amazing recipes + beautiful photography.

And speaking of Hipster Food, they made an online magazine! Chickpea is the cutest little vegan zine out there and I am so happy about the growing resources for vegans out in the world wide web!

This article from Cracked about horrifying lies the food industry is feeding you is a shocker. Gross.

And to add to last week’s theme of autumn foods, The Wellness Warrior posted a great recipe for a pumpkin and oatmeal cake!

And this lemon white bean dish from Veganasaurus is perfect for the chill.

And I will leave you with this beautiful cover of Arcade Fire’s song “Tunnels” by Meklit Hadero + Quinn Deveaux because I just can’t stop listening to it.

And since there’s no one else around,
we let our hair grow long
and forget all we used to know,
then our skin gets thicker
from living out in the snow.

Have a great week!
